Funerals

Thirty years showing up for people on the worst nights of their lives. I bring the same thing to a funeral: warmth without performance, honest words, and the ability to hold the room when it’s heavy.

Funerals don’t have to be solemn the whole way through.

What’s included

  • A first meeting at your home or wherever you’re comfortable
  • Eulogy writing with the family, in the words you actually use
  • Liaison with the funeral director
  • The service itself, run with care
Reach out when you’re ready

Living wakes

While the person at the centre is still here.

Some people don't want to wait until the funeral for the stories to be told. They want to hear them. They want to be in the room with the people they love. That's a living wake.

What’s included

  • A first meeting at your home, hospital, hospice, or wherever you're comfortable
  • Planning the day with you and the people around you, in the words you actually use
  • Liaison with anyone else involved (family, support workers, venue, musicians)
  • The ceremony itself, run with care
  • Follow-up after the day

Divorce parties

You made it through, and that’s worth marking. A piss-up with the people who held you through it, a quiet ceremony into the next chapter, or both.

Whatever shape yours takes, I’ll run it.

What’s included

  • A planning chat to work out what you actually want
  • Writing whatever’s needed: vows of independence, a letter to your old self, speeches
  • Hosting the event itself
  • Optional symbolic moments if you want them
Let’s mark it properly

Naming days

You’ve got a new little human. A naming day is what you make of it: a baptism without the religion, a backyard gathering, or a proper ceremony with guide-parents standing up for your child.

No script, no fuss.

What’s included

  • A meet-up with the family before the day
  • Writing the ceremony with you
  • Naming the guide-parents officially if you’ve got them
  • Running the ceremony on the day
Let’s welcome them

MC work

Give me the mic and I’ll run the room. Thirty years on the frontline trained me to read the energy and run with it. Receptions, awards nights, corporate events, 50ths, fundraisers.

What’s included

  • Pre-event briefing with the host or couple
  • Running sheet review and tightening
  • MCing the event itself, full duration
Hand me the mic

Something else?

Don’t see your kind of day here? Every one’s different. If you’ve got something in mind, big or small, tell me about it and we’ll shape it together.

A few I’m asked for

  • Memorials and celebrations of life
  • Milestone birthdays and anniversaries
  • Retirements and send-offs
  • Community events and gatherings
  • A surprise for someone who’d never ask
Tell me about it

The funerals of babies and little children. I’m a dad of two boys, and I know I couldn’t give that day what it truly deserves. If you’re walking through it, I’ll gently help you find someone who can hold it with the care it needs.

Deeply traditional religious ceremonies are a different craft. Best run by someone trained in that tradition.

Everything else, I’m here for. The days that need lightness, the days that need weight, and the days that need both held in the same hands.
